The Chronicles begin.

A brief post to explain the project. I'm an Italian journalist. I've got a website (all in Italian language) about our national cinema (from the year 2000 to now). We have a large database with thousands of reviews, interviews, data sheets, reports from film festivals and other stuff.

In Italy, the national cinema isn't beloved by the audience how it deserves. Beyond our borders, "Italian cinema" means only "classic cinema" (Fellini, Visconti, De Sica, Rossellini, Antonioni, Germi, Rosi, Risi, Monicelli...).

And now? There are a lot of directors and movies that deserve to be known, in Italy and not only. Garrone, Sorrentino, Moretti are acclaimed in Cannes and otherwise, of course. But there are many others names, stories, movies to tell. I'll try to do it, here.

Post Scriptum: I wrote "Italian cinema" on Google Images. The first pic appeared was Marcello Mastroianni in "Fellini's 8 1/2". The unnecessary confirm to my idea.

"Lasciati Andare", fresh air in the italian comedy

An old and bored psychologist, Elia, lives his life between his patients and his desserts. Sometimes he talks with the ex-wife (who lives beyond the next door), and nothing else. One day he has a little health problem, and the doctor orders him to do gymnastics. In a gym, not at home: Elia hates this ambient and tries to do the exercises with a personal trainer, Claudia. She's an original person, she's naif and superficial, at first sight, but she hides a sweet personality. Her approach to life will be very useful to Elia. Amusing dialogues, slapstick sketches, credible characters, good rhythm. " Lasciati andare " is fresh air for the audience, probably appropriate also for a foreign public. Toni Servillo plays the main character in this movie, a rare case of an ironic role in his career. Servillo is the favorite actor of Paolo Sorrentino and many other important directors. He's an actor with decades of experience and with a large variety of expression
